I play the guitar and I had previously been using my computer to tune up online but it’s not very transportable and if you’re travelling you really need something light and easy to use anywhere. It took me a while to get the hang of how to use this tuner and it’s really sensitive which I suppose is the whole point, but now I find it really invaluable. This tuner can be used for guitar, bass or ukulele and it’s nice and small and light. The tuner clips on to the guitar (or another instrument of your choice) and picks up the tuning from the strings as you strum them individually. There’s also a CAPO button which identifies if you’re using a CAPO which I think is really clever. Another great thing is that there’s an automatic function which switches the power off after five minutes so if you’re in a gig and you forget to switch it off it doesn’t matter. I think this is a particularly good function. For £12.99 it’s a really good bargain and so much easier than using an online tuner. I’ve used friend’s tuners in the past as well, but they all seemed to come in crappy plastic packaging and this one is definitely the best and lightest I’ve tried so far. The fact that it’s so small means you can literally put it in your pocket, which is pretty handy when you’re laden down with guitars and amps and PAs! I always find Amazon fairly speedy and a good useable website. This time too is didn’t disappoint and the whole thing was well worth it.

I have always had really thick, long hair which seems to never want to do what it’s told and to be honest my hair is too wavy to be straight but not properly wavy enough to be stylish. It does drive me mad and I’d love to have naturally straight and perfect hair whatever the weather like some people have, but also I don’t have lots of time for straightening as I’m a pretty low maintenance girl, seriously even the thought of something as commonplace as laser hair removal still freaks me out. I’d rather go to the pub than spend hours tweaking my hair and putting make up on which I guess says it all! So I’ve avoided buying GHD’s for ages because I felt like they were out of my price range and that there were own brand straighteners that could probably do the job just as well. I have to admit though that since I took the plunge and actually bought a pair of GHD Styler Straighteners I have been really pleased with the results. One major advantage is how quick they are and easy to use. Even on my thick hair they usually glide through. Also the end result is nice and smooth which makes a nice change! That’s not to say they’re perfect though, sometimes my hair does feel a bit frazzled by the end of the straightening despite the heat protective spray. Also I can’t help thinking they could knock the price down a bit now, seeing as there’s loads of competition from other brands! I don’t want to be too churlish though, as these are essentially a good buy and give good results.
